The BIOS password is loaded by the computer's internal battery. If the battery is taken off the computer for 10 seconds or more, the password function is stopped.

It acts as a middleman between the hardware and its operating mechanism. Without the help of the BIOS the computer’s operating system will not be able to make communication or being incapable of controlling hardware.
